Location of Bannerghatta National ParkLocated 22 kms south of Bangalore, Bannerghatta National Park is a wild life sanctuary that spreads over 525 sq. kms surrounded by the scenic hills and lushy green fauna. The Park is ideal for those interested in natural history and wildlife adventure.
Major Attraction of Bannerghatta National ParkThe major attraction of the Park are the safaris conducted by the the Forest Department which offers the visitors a closer feel of the wild animals. Mini buses and vans are arranged to take the tourists for the adventure rides that include lion & tiger safaris and herbivore safaris. The Park includes ten reserve forests of Anekal Range of the Bangalore Forest Division.
Animals of Bannerghatta National ParkVisitors can spot tigers, lions, leopards, elephants, various species of deer and other animals on the safari tours which can be seen in securely fenced areas within the wide forest ranges of the Bannerghatta National Park. The Park also has a variety of trees and houses many exotic species of birds. Besides this, the Bannerghatta park comprises of a mini zoo, a reptile park and and a museum. There are also elephant rides available for children. Once a young child fell prey to a lion, allegedly due to carelessness of the Forest Department staff. The tragic incident raised much controversy about the security and its maintenance.
How to Reach Bannerghatta National ParkThe Park is easily accessible from the major cities of the State by road. Bangalore is the nearest city for air and rail head. There are buses that run between Bangalore and Bannerghatta. Except for Tuesday, the park is open on all other days from 09:00 am to 05:00 pm. A visit to the park is truly a memorable picnic for the entire family. The best season to visit the Bannerghatta National Park is from November to June.Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) offers bus services to Bannerghatta National Park from the following areas in Bangalore:
