Mallikarjun Kharge sworn in as cabinet minister

The Dalit leader from Karnataka Mallikarjun Kharge has been inducted into the Manmohan Singh government on Thursday as cabinet minister.
This is apart from the former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily and S M Krishna who have already been appointed as Union Cabinet ministers in the Manmohan Singh government. K.H. Muniyappa is the other Dalit leader from Karnataka who has found a place in the union council of ministers. Muniyappa who served as Minister of State in the earlier government will continue the MoS rank. --MP

This year IPL matches saw some surprise twists in the semifinals with the underdogs eventually turning out favaourites of the game. And it was not less in the finals as the Royal Challengers Bangalore clashed with the Hyderabad's Deccan Chargers to give some thrilling moments. With RCB skipper Kumble spearheading the bowling attack (4/16), Deccan Chargers were reduced to 143 for six in 20 overs. Royal Challengers who came to bat second saw some poor batting action which helped Deccan Chargers emerge as the champions, winning for just 6 runs in the IPL second season held in South Africa. --MP
Krishna is Foreign Minister

Former Karnataka Chief MInister and Maharastra Governor S M Krishna has been inducted to the Union Cabinet as the External Affairs Minister.
Krishna has sworned in on Friday along with the 19 member Union cabinet Ministers under Manmohan Singh. Krishna after taking charge has said that his prime concern would be on improving neighbourhood ties and strengthening relations with the other world nations. --MP
Verappa Moily inducted in Cabinet
Verappa Moily who won the LS seat from the Chikballapur constituency has been inducted into the Manmohan Singh cabinet on Friday.
Moily's ministry is not oficially made known, but sources indicate that he is most likely to get either law ministry or information and broadcasting. Though Moily has been former CM of Karnataka this is the first time he is taking oath as a Union Minister. --MP
BJP slams JD(s) tie with UPA

The Congress at the Center is learnt to have taken the support of JD(s) to form the UPA government in the wake of its total tally falling short of few seats.
The Gowda's party support has come up after Cong leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked JD(s) State Chief Kumaraswamy to extend support to the UPA. Meanwhile BJP criticised the JD(s) move to support UPA saying that JD(s) was playing back door politics and asserted that the election outcome was a proof that why the people had rejected this. --MP

It was a clear win for BJP at Karnataka winning 19 seats of the total 28 LS seats. For the Congress its time for introspection as it managed to win just 6 seats and for the JD(s) had to content with just 3 seats.
The prominent winners included H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy of JD(S), Dharam Singh, Veerappa Moily, Mallikarjun Kharge, Muniyappa of Congress, H N Ananthakumar, B Y Raghavendra of BJP. Meanwhile the Cong losers include prominent figures like Bangarappa, Margaret Alva, Ambareesh, Janardhana Poojary etc. --MP

Bangalore team Royal Challengers are a step near to the semifinal berth dreams with the Anil Kumble led team beating Chennai Super Kings by two wickets.
In what was a thriller with some catching action and a condifent batting from Ross Taylor, which helped the Bangalore side reach the target of 129 posted by the Chennai team. Chennai so far had a straight 5 match winning streak and Kumble accounted the success against them an important one and was in full praise of Taylor. --MP

In what seemed to be an advantage for Kokatta Knight Riders at one stage turned out to be a thriller win for the Bangalore team with Ross Taylor playing off a match winning innings for the team.
It was a huge show by Ross Taylor who made an outstanding 81runs from just 33 balls that too when Royal Challengers Bangalore needed it at the most in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday. Ross Taylor unbeaten at 81 was certainly the man of the match indeed, beating Kolkatta by 6 wickets! --MP
Kingfisher daily flights to Dubai
Private carrier Kingfisher Airlines owned by Vijay Mallya, will start daily flights connecting Bangalore to Dubai soon. The airline intends to start its flight operations to Dubai from June 25.
The Dubai flight run by A320 aircraft will leave Bangalore at 6.30pm and rach Dubai at 8.55pm local time. The return flight will leave Dubai at 11.30pm and arrive at Bangalore at 4.45am. Apart from this Kingfisher also plans to begin services to other Gulf countries like Qatar, UAE and Oman.--MP
