Poor work led to Bellary building collapse

Rescue operations were on full swing till late Wednesday to help save lives trapped under the debris, when a five storeyed building collapsed in Bellary on Tuesday. While 6 people died in the incident, as many as 14 people were saved from the site suffering injuries. The building was undergoing construction and poor quality of work is said to have led to the tragedy. The worst happened when a portion of the building fell onto to nearby students hostel killing many of the hostellites. The government has ordered probe into the incident and has announced Rs 1 lakh to the victim kins. -- MP
