Mallikarjun Kharge sworn in as cabinet minister

The Dalit leader from Karnataka Mallikarjun Kharge has been inducted into the Manmohan Singh government on Thursday as cabinet minister.

This is apart from the former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily and S M Krishna who have already been appointed as Union Cabinet ministers in the Manmohan Singh government.

K.H. Muniyappa is the other Dalit leader from Karnataka who has found a place in the union council of ministers. Muniyappa who served as Minister of State in the earlier government will continue the MoS rank.
