With an eye on the upcoming elections, Former Prime Minister and JD(s) supremo H D Deve Gowda had stressed thath his party would aim to get quota for the poor among the forward classes.
In another attempt to woo the voters among the weaker sections in the society, Gowda indicated that his party 's highlight for the
elections would be to 'vertically divide' the 27 per cent quota to include those sections who are really backward.
Referring on the SC judgement on the OBC reservations, he said "We (JDS) are also of the view that to maintain cohesion, equality and solidarity in the society, all political parties should evolve through consensus a social and economic support mechanism for the poor among the forward classes."
