Tuesday, March 4, 2008
With the Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami visiting Karnataka to review on the upcoming elections, major political parties are pressing for holding early election in the State. The EC will be also meeting various political party leaders today to come up with a schedule for the elections. Meanwhile major parties including BJP and JD (S) are likely to submit petitions to the EC urging not to delay the polls beyond the six-month tenure of President's rule which ends at May. Sources indicate that Congress party is not in favor of early elections though the party has maintained that it is ready to face elections anytime. --MP
