No new taxes in budget

The Karnataka Budget for 2008-09 presented in the Parliament on Tuesday by Union Finance Minister Minister P. Chidambaram proposed no fresh taxes. The budget was presented by the UPA govt as the state is under the Presidents rule. As per state budget, the total outlay will be Rs.565.42 billion as against the budgeted outlay of Rs.504.66 billion for the current fiscal. The budget proposed to continue with the exisiting welfare schemes and focused on development of agriculture, irrigation, housing and rural projects. --MP
