Welcoming the Finance Minister's proposal for waiver of farm loans, Karnataka former chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy claimed that all the credits for that should go to his father and JD(s) chief Deve Gowda as he had always fought for the farmer's justice.

 

Chidambaram in the Union budget has announced a Rs 60,000-crore relief package for farmers, including complete waiver of loans given to small and marginal farmers.

 

"After 60 years, the Congress has done something for the farmers and this is just a reflection of my father's relentless struggle. It is a victory for his crusade for the farmers in the country," said Kumaraswamy who also indicated that it could have been better if the waiver was irrespective of the farmer's land holdings.
