BJP wants early elections
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
The BJP in Karnataka is in the favor of holding elections at the earliest. The party had also urged the Election Commission to hold the Assembly polls in the State before May 31 while implementing the Delimitation Commission recommendations. The party delegates led by Yashwant Sinha had submitted a memorandum indicating that it was against extension of President's Rule and sought for a revised poll schedule as per the new recommendations. "We have told the Election Commission that revision of the electoral rolls under the new delimitation exercise should not be made an excuse to extend President's Rule in Karnataka and elections should be held before May 31 under the new regime," said Mr. Sinha. --MP
