Avva is directed by acclaimed director Kavitha Lankesh who has made films like Preethi Prema Pranaya, Tananam Tananam. The movie, Avva is based on her father P Lankesh's novel, 'Mussanjeya Kathaa Prasanga'. The film stars Vijay, Shruthi and newcomer Smitha as the lead characters and the story is told on a village backdrop.
New face Smitha does a fair job. Shruthi plays her widow mother who potrays a powerful character. Vijay plays her daughter's love interest.

1 year ban on actor Vijay

MP: The Kannada film industry has put an axe on Kannada film actor Vijay of Duniya fame with a ban of one year. The ban was decided by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce after the actor failed to cooperate for dubbing of the film, Chanda directed by S Narayan. According to sources, the actor had differences with the director on the film's release date as Vijay had another film nearing release. However the decison on the ban to act in Kannada films was taken by the forum after the actor refused to dub for the film. It was for the film, Duniya the young actor had won the best actor award last year and the ban would really mean a big blow to this budding star. Labels: News, Vijay
