hi guys do u agree that kannada people doesn't love their language then others do, if its no then why kannada language is not making waves then the other south Indian language in national level.like it may be political, cinema , sports.etc..

See, any kannadiga is only as less or as much patriotic as any other. But the fact to be accepted is that while Tamil cinema industry generated a lot of quality films just after MGR and SHIVAJI stopped their regular acting. This made emergence of a lot of new artists and like bharathiraj, mahendran, balumahendran. Due to this, every generation kept something in store for the tamil audiance. But as far as Kannada is concerned, there was absolutely no one who could take this responsibility of delivering good films after putanna. The audience are to be blamed very little. Which kannadiga will be proud to go to a theatre and watch a substandard or remade movie?

The other fact is a city like Bangalore which has kannadigas as minority shouldn't be the target of the film industry. There are so many other districts and small towns and related issues.

In a language where we have 7 gnyan peet award winners, dont you think the film makers should be blamed if they remake movies and lose audiences?

It is not true that kannadiga is not patriotic. But it is very true that kannidigas are not having the unity compared to other south Indians.

But if one considers the language, culture etc etc kannadigas are very mild and far better than others.

If cinema industries are considered, our cinema people are so lazy to search stories from kannada novels/literature. They are not bringing up the kannada story writers. They are simply selecting some stupid movies from other languages and remake to kannada. While remaking they are not even bothered to rethink if the culture in the remade movies should be accepted by kannadigas.

There are remake kings (actors) like dharshan,sudeep.There are worst thinkers like ravichandran, upendra. Even Vishnuvardhan started acting in lot of remake movies. This applies to actresses also.

Though shivaraj kumar is not very good looking, he is following the footprints of his father (Excellent actor kanndada industry has ever seen), this should be appreciated.

Kannada film makers should understand that audience is not dumb. They can also think. One simple example is movie Nenapirali. Whole movie was made in Mysore and Bangalore. But due to the simplicity and originality became proven movie.

Kanndaigas far ahead in almost all the good fields compared to others. If film makers can think little bit, they can drive the film industry also in the same level. If they are really realizing good movies, no doubt that they will get very good response.

Hey that was cool. But in a cosmopolitan city like bangalore, there is no civilized platform to demonstrate unity. It is only a usual bundh which marks unity which is not a good thing.

You are complete wrong, we have artist who have made international recogn. none of other Indian actor has done ,take sports too, at least in Indian cricket team 4-5 team members are kannadiga , hockey the famous goal keeper is kannadiga and in swiming we are emerging as national champions. The great dancer pradhu deva,murali, arjun is kannadiga and th e list goes on ., but we have are not show offs like others and never think like a frog in well saying thats the world., our wings are wide , if you are really an indian you can see it, if not you raise such question for each langauge...

I dont know what is the motive of this topic. but still let me tell u that we ourself feel proud. I Have heard others telling the same abt kannada ,blre ,or state as a whole. Others say blore is hot because of out of state people not because of localites. I have seen lot of Kannadigas hesitate to speak to kannada, Infact uses other slang like macha, hindi words just for show off!
But think abt great indians in the world map like
Naryan moorthy, K V Kamath, Aishwarya rai,
Vijay Mallya, Mahesh bupathy, rahul dravid etc
even if u take hindi movies sunil shetty shilpa shetty, sneha ullal and many more
all over the country we have Udipi hotels
we have Karnataka originated banks

Those who feel very in-secure will speak like this. Be always proud of your language and proud being a true Indian. Our country has as much as prominent personalities as there are notorious criminals. So weigh between that instead of thinking on boundaries of language with in the country. We are very proud of Unity in Diversity not on the individual aspects of Indians or language.

True, but,we too like others should have some distinct Kannadiga pride, because Indians including Kannadigas tend to clump us with the one broad group called "South Indians"... For example, people would say "X is a UP'ite, Y is a Bengali, Z is a Maharashtran" and then "... Amrita Rao is a South Indian." Correction: Logically that last adjective should be "Kannadiga"!!! Kannada and Tamil/Telugu are as different from each other as English and French are from each other. But we seem to cluster ourselves into one group as though we are one big uniform herd of sheep! We are not. Just like Gujaratis are different from Punjabis, Kannadigas also are different from Telugus or Tamils ethnically, linguistically, racially, culturally... It is scientifically incorrect to say that all these folks are one homogenous group called "south indians".

i completely agree with sandesh who has posted his comment on aug 7...and what ever asha has stated about awards, awards makes a person big and not kannada...and as said by BS SHETTY we can see kannadiga every where in the world but, unfortunately they are not in karnataka, not in india. he himself is in dubhai. all the people in this community call shetty and let him stand in majistic he will know what exactly the kannada is.its not the awards or prises which makes kannada on the top its the man who has got good thought in his mind...

2.B.V Jagadeesh-exodus software catering 40% of internet works.
3.Srinivas Kulkarni in NASA
4.Deshmuk of software in US and relative of Narayan murthy
5.BR shetty at UAE is par excellence.
6.Nandan Nelkeni is bangalorean,next only to Naranmurthy in Infosys.
I put that kannadigas are more tolerant and humble.BUt really have made reaseonable name.
There are 500000 kannadiagas in gulf, arround 85000 kannadigas in US as given in interview in Chandana by AKKA office bearers.

Others should respect this generosity and mighty heart of Kannadigas and stay in their limits and not try to show their attitudes to Kannadigas. Sahitya Award is only name sake National Award. It was the acadamy created by Kannadas, Maintaining by Kannadas also giving more awards to Kannadas to get up their language. It is not meaning that is great award nationally.

I know you are hurt because one of them have referred Tamils to dogs in Bangalore which we all Kannadigas strongly oppose and condemn such insults. On behalf of that person we apologize to you.

But one thing you have to appreciate is that although those popular people you have mentioned above are from different origins but they have made their successes being the Bangaloreans or have roots from Karnataka which we are proud of.

You have to understand that languages are not dropped from heaven including Tamil. All languages have been debtors to one another and Tamil is no exception because many of its words have been derived from Sanksrith. Over a period of time all languages have developed their own identity and our country has been carved based on the languages.

You have correctly mentioned that Rajani kanth is
a Marathi origin but Tamils call him a Diva of Tamils like they called MGR although he was originally a Malayalee.

But what we Kannadigas are proud of Rajani is that he was born and brought up in Karnataka and now he is famous in Tamil Nadu.

Please understand that the Jnanapeeth Award are not given for just the script of a language but it was given for the quality of the thoughts and messages in the books written by those great writers.

So take it easy, by calling we are proud of Kannada doesn't mean that we hate you or your language.

Let us come to the point which is raised by one tamilian that kannada is dialect of tamil.And in karnataka 1500 years back use to speak tamil.That is hasi sullu.That is white lies.According to classification of dravidian languages the first two languages which are seperated from dravidian language are Tulu and spoken Kannada.At that time there is no any sign of tamil at all.But tulu remained as spoken language and kannada became the written language.Both of these languages are more or less of same age.And the word dravida or dravidian refers to only the southern indian language family.It was the great mistake by the western scholar who choosed the word dravida to assign the souther indian language family.THE PROTO DRAVIDIAN LANGUAGE IS NOT THE TAMIL.The Tamil itself is the member of dravidian language family.Go and search the books and research before you post tamilians.

My experience in bangalore for past 4 years shows kannadigas are the worst among south indians. The locals are very proudy and often threaten others (non kannadigas) from other states based on false proclain "This is Karnataka and dont try to act smart". The autowalas are the worst class in the south.

The policewalas openly takes the bribe and criminals are enjoying their freedom to do anything thinking they got the freedom to do, act anything by overnight.

You ask any outsiders in bangalore over their experience in bangalore with locals and they will share the same words.

I have many bad experiences in bangalore with the locals.

Basically the bangalore locals are

1. They are arrogant

2. Not disciplined

3. Proudy

4. Not empathetic or sympathetic

Sorry to burst your bubble, but from a linguistic perspective modern Malayalam (spoken today) is just as old or perhaps older than modern Tamil (i.e. Tamil spoken today).

This is because Malayalam has changed little in the last 500 to 600 years, whereas modern Tamil (spoken today) can be identified only about 300-400 years. The language that the Adi Shankaracharya spoke was in all likelihood as different from modern Malayalam as it is from modern Tamil. Neither a Malayalam speaking person NOR a Tamil speaking person of today would be able to talk to or have a conversation with the Adi Shankaracharya.

@ prem: I think the points that you raise are pertinent to ANY place in India not just Bangalore or Karnataka.

@ all others: I am an Indian, and I speak Bengali, Gujrathi (a little), Hindi, Kannada (a little), Marathi, Tamil (a little) and can comprehend Assamese, Chattgonia, Kathiwari, Konkani, Kutchchi, Oriya, Rajasthani and Maithili. I can also comprehend a little bit of Brahui which is a DRAVIDIAN language spoken in Northern India - primarily in Sindh and Balochistan.

We should celebrate our difference, not highlight them. Think not as Kannadigas or Maharashtrians, or Bengalis or Kashmiris, but as INDIANS!

I am neither a tamilian nor a kannadiga. Without non-Kannadigas Bangalore is a big zero. Kannadigas want tamil films to make money. No kannada films will run in Bangalore for long where as Tamil films will run 100s of days. The tamil film "Shivaji" was released in 10 theaters in Bangalore city.

There are kannadigas in chennai & other parts of tamil nadu also. Tamil people are not creating any probelm to these kannadigas. But these kannadigas in bangalore are always creating problems to tamilians.

So, what's the bottomline here? Another useless argument to assert which language is better than the other? Why don't you just learn what you like and ignore the others? Nobody is forcing you to learn or appreciate what you don't like, right? I can curse in all 4 South Indian languages and Hindi and English as well, so does that make me a BAD or GOOD Indian? Without bias, this is just my opinion, I think regardless of language, people of Karnataka are the least enterprising and the most lazy people in South India. That doesn't mean they are bad people, just lazy. The results are that Bangalore is made of a majority of non Kannadigas who have more than contributed to its growth, and Coorgis and Tulus and Konkans apart, there isn't very much for Kannadigas to call their great achievement. Just visit villages in all four states and you will know exactly which state is the worst off.

Kannadigas don't have any spirit for our great country India. They are only having some false pride of their language and state. Yes.. they are patriotic.They always want to stay in their own state and don't want to go anywhere outside Karnataka. They are not aware of the outside world (Just like frogs in the well).But remember that the state in which you kannadigas are living is developed only because of the hard work of non-kanandigas (People from rest of India).

Did I mention in my post that I am settled in Bangalore? Did I mention which is my home town? When I commented against you, you assumed that I am an outsider settled in Bangalore. The reason is that you are not having good relation with outsiders in Bangalore.

First of all, read comments and then answer. This is the problem with you people. You are the most selfish & useless people in India and still think you are superior to others. I have spent a great part of my life in various parts of Tamilnadu, but I am not a Tamilian. But what I want to tell from my experience is that tamilians are good people who are ready to accept & love people irrespective of their state, language etc.

I have spent 15 years of my life in Tamilnadu (3 years in Coimbatore and 12 years in Chennai). At present I left from Tamilnadu forever and settled in my home town. Still I am having good memories about this state and feel really missing those days.I have visited Bangalore so many times and have lot of friends there. That is why I know very well about Bangalore and you people.

If you are not changing your attitude, then definitely you are going to suffer.

Mr.Pallava Pandiyan, I know Tamilians very well. I have lived in Tamilnadu for 15 years. Tamil is not the only language in India. You are living in India and you should learn to respect other languages also. Throwing cheap comments on other languages and people from other states will not make you great.
