Equal ratio between govt and management seats
Equal ratio between govt and management seats
Saturday, June 11, 2005 | AY
The Karnataka cabinet on Thursday acceded to the private managements' demand and agreed to a 50:50 seat-sharing formula in medical and dental courses. The fee structure will remain at last year's level. Following the 50:50 decision, about 150 medical seats that would have gone to the government quota will go to private managements, limiting the merit seats in medical to 1,668. Last year, under the 60:40 formula, 1,887 of the total 2,887 seats in the state went to merit students, who were admitted via the government CET. Engineering seat-sharing is not disturbed and continues at 65:35. Shivaram maintained that the loss of 150 seats would be made up by the fresh intake in the six new government medical colleges that have been proposed.
